About Courses for Staff members

Established January 2021

Courses for staff members must be designed to train them for a specific career, for a limited period of time and at reasonable expense. A course is most useful if it can be continued even after a job description has been terminated. It should not be continued so as to prevent the employee from obtaining another job or to ensure continued employment. A course for staff members must not be intended to create an impression of disinterest on the part of the employee in his work, or to discourage the employee from reporting defects or wrongdoings to senior management.

Courses for staff members may be conducted in courses format or by means of in-house training programmes. The number of days for a course may be one day or several weeks. Courses for staff members may be designed to develop professional skills, develop managerial or supervisory skills, develop leadership or team skills, or even develop independent skills. Courses for staff members can be designed to include aspects of organisational management, human resources management, project management, finance, marketing, operations or project planning.

Courses for staff members can either be internal or external programmes. Internal programmes are usually conducted within organisations or at the workplace itself. Employees who have successfully completed an internal programme are usually entitled to continue their studies for a period not less than six months, to enable them to take up positions of higher qualification. External programmes allow staff members to take up courses that they would otherwise be unable to pursue at their workplace. Usually such courses are provided by professional development companies or by third party institutions.

Courses for staff members may be provided either in-house or outside the workplace. In-house programmes are usually designed to train current staff members and enhance the knowledge of new recruits. An in-house training programme usually lasts between five and eight weeks. The duration of an in-house programme is usually related to the nature of the course and the needs of the individual employee.

External programmes provide staff members with an opportunity to further their education and training. This normally requires participants to complete a set number of training hours within a defined time period. Web-based training options are generally recommended over traditional methods, due to their accessibility, flexibility and affordability. Web-based trainings allow staff members to complete courses and projects while at work. Participants can log on to the Internet from any location and are able to access educational content wherever and whenever they are in the comfort of their own home.

When taking up any course or project involving the skills of the human resources field, it is important to ensure that it fits in with your job description. If web-based training courses for at least one of your staff members involves an element of project management, for example, you will want to ensure that you are aware of all the relevant instructions before commencing. For some projects, it may not be suitable to take part if the person has already spent time working within a different department. This is why it is so important to read through the job description of the particular course or assignment before you start it.

In addition to fitting in with the job description, you will also need to fit in with the course. Staff members must ensure that all information provided is relevant and up-to-date. There should also be a requirement to demonstrate the applicant's knowledge of relevant current matters within their field of knowledge. Again, this is where online training can come in handy.

Online training courses have a number of advantages. One of the most important is the flexibility associated with them. For staff members that are transferred from one department to another, online ehrhardt training courses are often the first option that they look into. Because ehrhardt services are scalable and flexible, they can be tailored exactly to suit the needs of each company. So, whether your company is moving staff members from one department to another or whether you need refresher training for existing staff members, an online training course could be the ideal solution.
