Yesterday some of the Pixelstorm team had the absolute pleasure of attending the Yarra City Council Women in Business Event. It was an inspiring networking event with guest speakers Ellen Weigall founder of Baby Pink Gin and Clarissa Harris co-founder and Managing Director at True Tribe. These 2 incredible humans shared their stories (mistakes and all). They shared inspiring stories about resilience, following your dreams and standing up for what you believe in. It was so lovely to be in a room of like minded women. We all came from different backgrounds, have different career paths and attended for different reasons, yet we all walked away inspired. Thank you to the City of Yarra, Ellen and Clarissa for putting together such a great event. Can’t wait for the next one! #cityofyarra #melbourne #womensupportingwomen

If you’re an SEO’er your Linkedin feed is probably loads of people talking about what the latest Google update means and predictions of why Google has done this or maybe you’re just like “what’s new? Google makes updates all the time”.  However, if you’re not an SEO’er you most likely have no idea what update we’re talking about. So what does this core update mean in everyday non SEO’er talk? It means 👉 if your site is full of content that is helpful, genuine, follows Google's guidelines, has a great backlink profile & optimises with your customer in mind first, you won't be impacted (YAY!) BUT… If your site is  👉 full of plagiarised content 👉 has loads of bought mass backlinks from random websites like Fiverr 👉 or you uploaded (on mass) AI generated content without fact checking OR checking it’s in line with your brand. Then this update will most likely impact your website. ALOT. We’re talking lose of ranking, or reduced traffic and although these elements *may* return to pre-update normal it will be weeks before anything can be done to help restore your rankings or traffic. There’s not a lot we can do at the moment, just sit tight and ride the update rollercoaster.

Here at Pixelstorm we are big on training and upskilling and are lifelong learners. So when we discover an opportunity we JUMP at the chance to learn/attend/upskill. Last week one of our newest crew members Chloe Chiang attended the SEO Conference in Sydney. We asked Chloe for some of her insights and learnings. Chloe had shared a great post on her personal Linkedin. With Chloe’s permission we’re sharing her post here with you, so we can all learn about SEO and Chloe’s and her key takeaways. "Last Friday, I had the pleasure of attending Prosperity Media's inaugural Sydney SEO Conference, on behalf of Paula Glynn. Here were some main takeaways I learnt: ✅ From Jes Scholz: With Google's introduction of Gemini, the traditional SEO methods of ranking for the SERPs is no longer enough. SEOs need to start looking at optimising for images, videos, product & article content. Loyalty & better user-engagement will be key to being successful in Gemini. ✅ From Nik Ranger: Correcting & optimising internal links is one of the most powerful things you can do to improve SEO performance. Nik took us through how she used machine learning to speed up the process & introduced us to LinkBert (a tool her & the team at Dejan Marketing built) [link in the comments] ✅ From Sally Mills: How to use scripts to 80/20 tedious SEO tasks, such as redirect mapping, keyword intent mapping & content scraping, allowing you to get your time back [link in the comments] ✅ From Jonas Grünfeld: learning more about digital PR, and the 3 trends that are working in 2024: 1️⃣ Relevance > Going Viral 2️⃣ Tailoring Content > One Size Fits All 3️⃣ Personalisation of Content > Number of People Outreached It was also great to finally connect in person with SEOs that I'd followed online: Matthew Forzan, Daniel Xu, Edward Bate, Georgia Tan & Andy Truong. As well as experience one of the best SEO events with my SEO (and real life besties): Nikita Singh & Raghave Gupta. And to catch up with my old manager, Jillian Reid, who was the one who gave me my first SEO job! What a full circle moment. 🥰 Can't wait for the next one! #sydneyseoconference #seoconference #seo"
