This person might tell you that they have sciatica a pain down their leg, they may tell you their leg is 'weak' and they may even limp. What is going on however is quite complex. 1. They hurt their back. 2. It's not injured it's just in a spasm to protect itself. 2. the pain is being experienced in their head. 3. The pain is radiating down into their leg. In all likelihood if they apply heat and keep active it will go away by itself. What should they do ??? see a doctor? physio? chiro ? get an xray ? take pain killers ? consult a surgeon? what is likely to happen in each case ? Has this happened to you ? EVERYTHING WE THINK we know about pain is wrong. That’s quite a bold statement. But, by and large, it’s true. By ‘we’, I mean us as a society; I mean most people in and outside the medical establishment. We misunderstand the nature of pain and this misunderstanding is ruining the lives of millions. Lyman, Monty. The Painful Truth: The new science of why we hurt and how we can heal (p. xiii). Transworld. Kindle Edition.

Are you tired of traditional medical treatments for chronic pain? Neurotechnology is leading the charge in using virtual reality technology to revolutionise the medical field. Their innovative approach at Innovate Pain Clinic offers drug-free and surgery-free virtual reality psychotherapy that creates an analgesic effect using full body tracking. With our desktop application developed using Python and the Mediapipe Library, we can provide full body tracking using a simple camera like a webcam. This solution reduces hardware obsolescence, improves patient experience, and has the potential for a remote or home version. If you're interested in a camera-based solution for individual or crowd characteristics, please give them a visit! https://bit.ly/3MZVe4U Let us help you digitise your business! https://bit.ly/41kFWvG #VirtualReality #MedicalInnovation #ChronicPainRelief #FullBodyTracking #Neurotechnology #InnovatePainClinic #Python #MediapipeLibrary

For our clients with #chronicpain, movement isn’t just about strength—it’s about trust. Imagine #movement as a bridge they once crossed without a second thought. Before pain, it felt sturdy. But after enough flare-ups and setbacks, the bridge starts to feel unstable. Some try to charge across, hoping willpower will hold it up—only to feel it shake beneath them. Others avoid it altogether, convinced it’s safer to stay put. And then there are those who pace themselves, stepping forward but always bracing for something to go wrong. Either way, their #nervoussystem learns the same lesson: movement isn’t safe. And that belief—not weakness, not #motivation—is what keeps them stuck. So how are we helping clients rebuild #trust in movement? • Are we creating movement experiences that reassure their nervous system? • Are we helping them see that setbacks don’t mean the bridge is collapsing, but that they’re strengthening it? • Are we moving beyond “just push through,” “just rest,” or “pace yourself” and actually reteaching their brain that movement is safe? If we want clients to move with confidence again, we have to help them trust the bridge will hold—not by forcing, avoiding, or tiptoeing, but by reinforcing it, step by step. How do you approach this in your work?

We know that 9 out of ten cases of lower back pain have no physical cause - that may be exactly why only 1 in ten treatments work (duh). Placebos however work in 30-50% of cases. So you would do much better to take sugar tablets than medical advice. We however at the Innovate Pain Clinic have a better way! We use neuroscience education Neuroplastic Theory and the magic of VR. Even if you only get a placebo reaction you will be better off !!!!
Only 1 in 10 treatments for low #backpain is truly effective, while many provide pain relief that's barely better than a placebo, researchers have found. Deputy Director of the Centre for Pain IMPACT, Dr Aidan Cashin, spoke to 7NEWS Australia about his research. https://lnkd.in/gKA5-ZiQ Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gY9mRxmX

There is a better way ! If you are struggling with persistent pain or opioid use
A new study led by Yonas Tefera from our Healthy Working Lives Research Unit has highlighted the extent of two potentially very harmful patterns among workers with common workplace injuries and compensation claims – early high-risk opioid prescribing, and long-term opioid use. https://lnkd.in/gJYwfxqs Alex Collie

Most pain (all pain) starts with a 'physical event' it may be an accident/injury or inflammation or surgery, patients and doctors tend to over medicalize persistent pain - that is if the pain doesn't go away. X rays as discussed in this article- that is looking deeper for a physical cause, cement this belief in both Dr and patient- often leading to potentially unnecessary surgery. We have a better, cheaper, easier and longer lasting way! https://lnkd.in/gfGYjizi
