Members of the Hi-Quality team joined the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia in Sydney this morning to hear NSW’s Minister for Environment, Penny Sharpe, share her vision and ambitions for the future of our sector. Across the country, clear and ambitious recycling, reuse, and recovery targets have been set to create more sustainable ways to manage waste. It was great to come together as an industry and hear about how NSW is working towards meeting these collective goals.

Safety of our people is our priority. In October, we took National Work Safe Month to restate and reinforce this focus and commitment. Our NSW leadership was fortunate to be joined by James Wood - 'Woody', who shared his personal experience and insight into how our everyday choices can change lives. Throughout the month, our sites held morning teas and weekly competitions focusing on different aspects of health and safety to help all our teams make better, more informed choices in their workplaces. Safety at work is an ongoing and evolving journey for all of us, but every step and every choice matters.

As Australia’s construction and infrastructure pipeline progresses, the demand for high performance material has never been greater. Hi-Quality is partnering with the M12 Motorway in Sydney’s West to provide industry-leading sand, stabilised sand, and recycled road base for its construction, using NATA accredited technicians to test and sample the product before our transport fleet safely delivers it. The M12 is a key piece of infrastructure, and we’re proud to play our part.

Australia’s waste and resource recovery sector is evolving. As it does, we need to consider all of its complexities to ensure we are using safe and proven solutions at every stage. Hi-Quality’s waste treatment facilities are some of the very few in the country to treat PFAS contaminated sludges, liquids and soils, and our landfills are engineered to safely dispose of asbestos and other contaminants. While our priority is to advance recycling and recovery options, we also provide viable, safe options for highly contaminated products as we undertake this transition. Our resource recovery specialist subsidiary, Brandown, is partnering with the Young Adults Disabled Association to provide a much-needed service to an incredible organisation. Well done, team.
Brandown is proud to be working with Young Adults Disabled Association (YADA) to provide free waste disposal for any unwanted items being discarded through their move. We’re partnering with Macleans Waste Management, who are collecting the waste before it arrives at our facility for safe disposal. YADA provides an incredible service for the community, and it’s a privilege to support them in return.

Australia’s construction & demolition sector produces some of the most waste by industry. With major infrastructure projects underway across the country, we need to not only divert more waste from landfill, we also need to produce more material to support these ambitious pipelines. Greg Leghissa, Hi-Quality’s Chief Operating Officer, was recently featured in Inside Waste au talking about how end-to-end waste management solutions can support the C&D sector to fulfil sustainability targets and meet economic needs. https://lnkd.in/gkifd8UA #construction #environment #sustainability #infrastructure #wastemanagement

It was great to speak at Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia's Landfills and Transfer Stations conference this week about how we design integrated hubs to leverage new technologies and minimise waste-to-landfill. While engineered landfills will continue to be an essential part of the waste sector for the foreseeable future, we need to design our sites to provide a multi-stage process that prioritises recovery and treatment, using landfill as the last step. By taking a more nuanced approach to waste, we can shift our collective mindset away from landfill as the default and make sure we're using our remaining infrastructure safely and strategically. If you would like to know more about the range of services we can offer, reach out at www.hiquality.com.au.

We're down at the Victorian Transport Infrastructure Conference this week talking about the key role Hi-Quality’s Sunbury Eco-Hub plays in projects of state and federal significance, spanning logistics, processing, recovery, treatment, and safe disposal for large volumes of excavated material. If you’re here, come and say hi. #infrastructure #wastemanagement #resourcerecovery

Did you know Hi-Quality Concrete was Australia’s first producer of carbon-embedded concrete? Together with CE Construction Solutions, we installed Canadian technology CarbonCure into batching systems, taking recycled carbon from other industries and injecting it into fresh concrete. This reduces its carbon footprint without compromising performance. Over the last nine months alone, Hi-Quality Concrete has saved 20 tonnes of waste carbon being released into the atmosphere, and so much more. Check out the post below and read more at www.hqconcrete.com.au. #wastemanagement #carbonfootprint #construction
Some #FunFridayFacts about our work with CarbonCure Technologies for your lunchbreak. Since we started injecting recycled carbon into some of our mixes in September last year, we have: 🚛 sent out 723 truckloads with embedded carbon ✨ injected 2075 kg carbon into concrete ♻️ saved 20 tonnes of waste carbon being released into the atmosphere 👷♂️ made 4423 cubic metres of concrete using CarbonCure If you've got an upcoming project that you'd like to discuss the possibilities of reducing your carbon footprint, talk to our team today!
