WorkSafe Victoria urges the construction industry to review fall prevention measures following recent incidents. In 2023, over 400 claims were made for construction workers injured in falls from height, including nine fatalities. Among those injured, 160 fell from ladders, 46 from steps and stairways, 31 from buildings or structures, and 27 from scaffolding. There is a team of inspectors visiting sites across the state and employers are being monitored to ensure the prevention of falls is implemented in work sites. With over 4700 site visits this year, issuing 1100+ notices, and 39 prosecutions in.
