We couldn't have imagined that as 2024 rolled around, our 'Lunch with Lawyer' facebook group would have grown to over 6,000 members. It seems like just yesterday when we first started this group back in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. Our goal was simple - to provide a platform for individuals seeking legal advice for their family law matters. If you haven't joined us yet, 'Lunch with a Lawyer' is an easily accessible online space and community where people can ask an experienced and qualified family lawyer questions about domestic and family violence and family law Best of all, it's completely free! If you are looking for family law advice, you are always welcome to join our facebook group here: https://lnkd.in/gsHQu8z

It’s not every day that you have the opportunity to be uplifted by someone’s story. ✨ On International Women’s Day, our team member Joanne attended the International Women’s Day Celebration hosted by UnitingCare Family Relationship Centre Logan, with guest speaker Katrina Stewart, Local Area Coordinator at Carers Queensland, a Partner delivering services through the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Through sharing her lived experience as a blind woman, attendees were inspired as she described the development of the skill of adapting through memorising books as a child, seeing her as a graduate from the University of Queensland, and take pivotal decisions confidently including interstate moves for a satisfying career of great contribution. Katrina also shared her happiness in the experience of raising children and enjoying expressing herself as a woman in fashion and style. Throughout her address, Katrina credited the dedication of her parents, Narbethong State Special School and colleagues and inspired attendees to the opportunities that open, when we decide to think about “what can we do to work around the cant’s, so we can.” This message is so valuable in all of life, and for us providing our services to our clients. Pictured is a portrait photo, from left to right, Joanne and Katrina stand together, linked arm in arm, smiling, and Cecil, Katrina’s companion dog. Joanne has black hair in a ponytail, and wears large, rounded rose gold glasses, white blouse with mid-length sleeves, beige pants, and beige heels. Katrina has shoulder-length blonde hair styled in a half-up hairdo and wears a black and white gingham-patterned calf length dress with a tie front, featuring a tier section down three-quarters of the way. Her footwear consists of black open-toed sandals with twisted bow detail above the toes and small wedge heels. On the right of Katrina, is Cecil, a medium-sized black Labrador with a black glossy coat, who is stretching out with his paws straight ahead, gazing calmly at the camera, his tail held high with a gentle curve to the left. 🙂

The start of a new year is always a good time to set new challenges and opportunities for yourself and your work team. Personally, I have found one of the best avenues for professional development and growth has been sitting on other boards, particularly non profit boards. If you or someone in your team is keen for the challenge of sitting on a board I would love to hear from them. See the link below for more information. https://lnkd.in/gcy9NkWK You are welcome to pass on the information in this post to anyone who you think may be interested. Have a great rest week!
