People. Power. Possibilities. Leading the transition to a clean energy future.

About us

Over decades of technical excellence, we’ve enabled the smooth operation of over 13,060km of high voltage transmission wires and 122 substations in NSW and the ACT, with connections to Victoria and Queensland. Our most crucial work is leading the transition to Australia’s clean energy future. The traditional coal system that served our country for decades is nearing the end of its life, to be replaced by wind and solar generation. We’re making the right decisions now to prepare for the opportunities and challenges ahead – a changing climate, population growth and technology innovation. As we lead the way towards a more resilient future, we’re working closely with our customers and communities to make sure no one is left behind. Wherever you are in NSW or the ACT, you can be confident in the reliable, affordable and sustainable electricity we transmit as we make a better power system for generations to come.

🌈🌈Today, we marked IDAHOBIT Day, a global day to stand up against discrimination and violence towards LGBTQIA+ people. As part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, our Rise Allies Network hosted a virtual event for our people. 👏 Thank you 👏 to Nita Mannering from ACON Pride in Diversity, for joining us to discuss the importance of IDAHOBIT Day and the role we can all play to make our workplace more inclusive. Nita shared her insights on Trans and Gender Diverse inclusion as well as some practical tips on how to be an ally and support our LGBTQIA+ colleagues and customers. 🙌 Gordon Taylor Transgrid's EGM Major Projects, discussed his recent appointment as Rise Network Sponsor and that it is important for Transgrid to recognise IDAHOBIT day to keep raising awareness of LGBTQI+ discrimination and what we can do to provide a more inclusive workplace for our LGBTQI+ employees. 🏳️🌈 Neil Howes Senior Manager Policy Reform and Rise Allies Chair, said, "I'm proud of the work that our Rise Ally Network has done in the past year. Now with 129 registered Allies from across the business, we are building a culture where all our employees can feel like they can be themselves and thrive in the workplace. We have also supported the business in providing a number of LGBTQI+ initiatives over the last year. This includes the company’s gender affirmation policy, updates to leave and domestic violence policies and providing access to the ACON Pride counselling service. Thank you to all the Rise Allies for their commitment and enthusiasm, and I invite more staff to join us and get involved in our activities”. ⭐ We are proud to celebrate IDAHOBIT Day and support our LGBTQIA+ community. 🏳️🌈

Construction of EnergyConnect is ramping up on the project’s eastern alignment with the first tower erected on Line 2 – from Buronga to Dinawan, near Coleambally NSW. It is the first of 800 towers to be installed on this 380km line and is located about 30km from the Euston township. 🚍Our construction partner Elecnor Australia erected the first tower in a day-long operation, with a 200-tonne crane and ground team of 10 riggers, a supervisor and crane operator. More than 160 tower foundations have now been completed, with tower assembly and erection to continue down the line. 👉Find out more about EnergyConnect: https://brnw.ch/21wJRrM Elecnor Australia #EnergyConnect #cleanenergyfuture #transmission #makingitpossible

This week, we were delighted to take part in Clontarf's Annual Employment Forum, held in Wollongong. It brought together young Indigenous men from Clontarf academies across Southern NSW, as well as representatives from employers, industries, and educational institutions. 🎓 Matt Riley Head of Business Resilience was one of the speakers and said: "I was impressed by the enthusiasm and curiosity of the attendees, who asked lots of questions about my role, the work environment and training and development opportunities." 👏👏 We would like to thank Clontarf for organising this fantastic event, and inviting us to be part of it. Clontarf is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men. Transgrid is a proud supporter of Clontarf and we look forward to continuing our partnership in the future. 🙌⭐ #energytransition #makingitpossible #energyjobs #indigenous

As skies lit up with the Aurora Australis over the weekend our team was closely monitoring the transmission network for potential impacts. 🛰🌎 Transgrid was ready to respond to any disruptions caused by the extreme planetary geomagnetic storm and worked with other agencies to ensure any issues were detected quickly. The storm was the most severe of its kind to hit the planet since 2003. General Manager of Network Operations Jason Krstanoski said: “The conditions we observed over the weekend are rare but significant. Our critical infrastructure is not immune from the impacts of space weather and that is something we have to take into account when operating the grid.” “While we escaped any disruptions, the geomagnetic storm highlighted the need to continue investing in adapting the electricity grid to ensure it remains resilient and secure, both now and in the future,” Jason said. Later this month some of our people will be heading to Adelaide to take part in Exercise Aurora which is being run by the National Emergency Management Agency to explore preparations and responses to space weather. #energytransition #AuroraAustralis #spaceweather #gridsecurity

A state-of-the-art worker accommodation camp is taking shape at Dinawan, near Coleambally NSW, as part of Australia’s largest transmission project. The 460-bed facility will house Transgrid and Elecnor Australia personnel building a world-class substation and transmission line as construction of EnergyConnect moves east towards Wagga Wagga. Australian Portable Camps has delivered 150 buildings to the 1.5ha camp site with facilities to include a laundry, kitchen, dining room, games room, spiritual room and gym as well as a water treatment plant. The Dinawan camp is one of six worker accommodation facilities along the 700km project alignment, housing up to 1,400 workers. The camps ensure personnel are safe and comfortable while working away from home and bring more people into local communities without adding pressure to limited housing and accommodation.
