Hi LinkedIn, Now is a good time to clarify some of the services provided at BFHA. Our clients are typically in one of these two situations: 1. Homeowners or companies, acting on behalf of homeowners or for themself, who want to build or alter & add to a development in a bush fire prone area. 2. Homeowners or companies located in bush fire prone areas who are unsure of their safety and methods available for better protection. The customers in scenario 1 have no choice. Under state planning legislation, development applications for a development located in a bush fire prone area typically require an assessment to help inform councils' determination. Scenario 2 arises from individuals or businesses seeking clarification around their risk profile and obtaining a plan to activate in the event of a bush fire. If you desire a bush fire assessment out of choice or necessity, BFHA can help find a solution tailored to your needs. Visit our website at www.bfha.com.au or contact us here on LinkedIn for further information. #bushfire #SouthAustralia #NSW #bushfireprotection #firesafety #risk

Mechanisms are in place in the form of legislation, regulations and development standards to ensure protective measures are enforced during construction of a development, however none are in place to inform purchasers and renters of the dangers of living in bush fire prone areas. An interesting inclusion for this article would be insights and comparisons into the expectations of individuals relocating to a bush fire prone area against the reality they now face. Would increased awareness of these risks prior to relocation have influenced their decision? #bushfire
'Bushfires account for 40% of fatalities associated with declared disasters in Australia. A significant proportion of these fatalities occur closer to forested areas because over 90% of the recorded locations for the deaths were within 100 metres of bushland areas.' 🔥 🔥 30TH APRIL - SOUTH AUSTRALIAN FIRE SEASON OVER 🔥 🔥 Two weeks ago the official 2024 bush fire season has ended, lifting fire bans for all fire districts in South Australia. However the recent media release from SA CFS insists bush fire prone communities to stay vigilant during this time as the potential for bush fires developing are higher than normal due to the dry fuel loads and low rainfall continuing through Autumn. A few ways to mitigate some of the risks to your community, property and family include: 1. Take precautions during burn offs (see link below); 2. Develop or update a bush fire survival plan; 3. Ensure your property is adequately prepared through activities like creating clear spaces between vegetation and buildings, garden maintenance, building upgrades and obtaining appropriate insurance. #bushfire #SouthAustralia https://lnkd.in/dA98-QbG https://lnkd.in/dCnvfydm
