From Terrified to Terrific: How Jane Found Her Voice

When Jane first reached out to me, she was terrified of presenting. She worked in the pharmaceutical industry. She was smart, capable, and experienced but the thought of standing up in front of her colleagues made her physically sick. She told me she wasn’t even sure she could get on the plane to come to my presentation skills workshop! Fast forward a few months, and Jane is absolutely smashing it at work. She’s presenting confidently to senior leaders, sharing her insights at national meetings, and even mentoring others who used to feel just like she did. So, what changed? Anyone can cure their nerves without medication Jane thought her fear was permanent. The good news is that nerves aren’t a personality trait, they’re a habit. The truth is, anyone can cure their nerves without medication when they learn the right structure, tools and mindset. Public speaking anxiety isn’t emotional weakness, it’s often a lack of technical skill. Once Jane learned how to prepare properly, what to say, and how to engage an audience – with a focus on them and not on herself, her confidence grew naturally. That’s what I teach in my presentation skills workshop in Sydney: the science of calm, confident communication. It’s not magic, it’s method. A Safe, Supportive Space to Grow Over the years (and more than 1,050 masterclasses later!), I’ve learned that real growth happens in a safe, encouraging environment. My role isn’t just to stand in front of people and “teach” them; it’s to walk beside them as they bump up against their fears, old habits and self-doubt. In our sessions, people practise new techniques, receive uplifting, honest, and caring feedback, and realise ( often for the first time) that presenting doesn’t have to be terrifying. It can even be fun. That’s why I design my courses to be supportive, engaging and practical. People laugh, connect, and surprise themselves with how quickly they improve. The Right Push at the Right Time Helping people overcome fear isn’t one-size-fits-all. It takes experience and intuition to know when to gently push someone further, and when to pause and let them celebrate a smaller win. Jane’s journey was full of those moments. Over the two-day masterclass she made huge leaps at times; in other moments she simply stayed calm while speaking for 30 seconds. It’s all progress worth celebrating. Bit by bit, Jane built confidence until speaking up became second nature. That’s what real transformation looks like. The Fast, Exciting Path to Confidence People are often shocked at how quickly things change once they start applying proven tools. It’s about identifying the real causes of nerves and performance gaps and then fixing them in an exciting, empowering way that makes sense to you. That’s the magic of my presentation skills workshop Sydney: it’s not just about “getting through a presentation.” It’s about becoming the kind of communicator who feels proud, capable, and calm - no matter who’s watching. Ready to Find Your Voice? If you’ve ever thought, “I just can’t do it,” I promise you - you can!
