How 4RUBBER Started: A Better Way Forward for Our People and Our Industry

By 4RUBBER

12/10/2025 What happens when two rubber liners decide to build something better and back their people first — turning frustration with the labour support industry into a trusted crew and workshop supporting mining sites across Australia.
Where It Really Started
4RUBBER wasn’t founded in a boardroom or built from a long-term business plan. It started from experience — and from recognising that the labour support industry could be better.
For years we worked shutdowns across Australia and kept seeing the same issues everywhere we went:

  • Skilled workers were undervalued and unsupported
  • Weeks would pass without work because no one was looking out for their crews
  • Clients were calling us directly instead of the labour hire company we worked for
  • Basic costs like food or airport transfers weren’t covered
  • Hours disappeared because of poor management
  • Super wasn’t paid properly on hours worked

· Experienced liners were often paired with people who didn’t have the right training, meaning the workload and pressure fell back on us — while everyone was still paid the same rate.
Eventually, we’d had enough. We realised the industry wasn’t going to change — But we could.
So we backed ourselves and started subcontracting directly.

Turning Demand Into Momentum
Within the first month, we were completely inundated with work.
It became immediately clear that the industry needed experienced, reliable rubber liners — and a better standard of service.
We brought in people we trusted. People with experience, pride, and an excellent work ethic. Most came from the same situations we’d been in.
And clients noticed the difference straight away:

  • Jobs were done properly
  • Communication improved
  • Shutdowns ran smoother
  • Morale lifted on site

Our reputation built itself — not from marketing, not from investment, but from reliability, quality, and genuine respect for our people and clients.
This was the true beginning of 4RUBBER.

Culture Became Our Backbone
From day one, the strength of 4RUBBER has been its culture.
We look after our people properly — and because of that, they look after our clients.
Shutdowns can be tough, especially in remote areas, but our crews consistently bring good energy, teamwork, and professionalism to every job. That culture carried us through the early years and still sets us apart today.

Why We Started the Workshop
After several years operating as a labour support business, we realised we had built a crew strong enough to take the next step: our own workshop in Bibra Lake.
The workshop wasn’t about competing with our clients. It was about strengthening our foundations:

  • Keeping our WA team working between shutdowns
  • Giving our east-coast crew reliable work between projects
  • Supporting existing clients with overflow work
  • Reducing the impact of last-minute shutdown cancellations
  • Building long-term stability for our people

We found the workshop, set it up quickly, and landed our first job almost immediately.

The Reality Today
It still isn’t always smooth sailing — consistency takes time when your client pool is small and not every project requires rubber lining. Some jobs come through back-to-back, others come in waves. But the work we do take on is delivered with:

  • Strong QA
  • Solid timeframes
  • High standards
  • And clients who are genuinely impressed

We’re not interested in growing too fast. We’re focused on staying reliable, consistent, and delivering quality work every time.

The Philosophy Behind 4RUBBER
From the beginning, our philosophy hasn’t changed:
Look after the people, and the people will look after you.
That approach built our crew. It built our reputation. It built our workshop.
4RUBBER wasn’t built overnight — it was built the right way.
That’s how we started. That’s how we operate. And that’s how we’ll continue to grow — sustainably, reliably, and always with the same integrity that got us here.
