Daryl Barr started in the amusement ride business in September 1997 with a set of Pacer Karts (electric Go Karts). The business was known as Western District Pacer Karts. The Pacer Karts proved very popular as children as young as 3 years old could drive. Daryl concentrated mainly on school fetes and festivals but was also getting enquiries for corporate events and Race meeting where committees were looking to entertain children while parents could relax and enjoy the event. The Karts were also popular at birthday parties. With the popularity of the Karts came requests for more rides.

Daryl expanded the business to include Zap Zone, a laser tag game played in a giant inflatable “Spaceship”. This amusement proved very popular with children from age 6 and up to adults. One Zap Zone highlight was the Ford Australian tennis players’ party in 2000 at the Hyatt Regency in Melbourne. Next came Jumping Castles, another set of Go Karts, and a Giant Inflatable slide, a 3 lane Bungy Run, Climbing Wall. Merry Go Round, Chair-O-Plane, an 18’ slide, a Combo (bounce, climb and slide) and recently Spinning Tubs and an inflatable Kidz Gym. The business now has 18 rides and with many contacts in the amusement rides business, Daryl can also organise big rides like the Cha Cha, Sizzler, Hurricane, Dodgem Cars, Music Trip and Paratrooper.
Other rides such as a Trackless Train, Cup & Saucer ride, Ball Crawl, Bucking Bull, Activity Centres and animal farms can also be arranged. With contacts for Clowns, Face Painters, Carnival games, Fairy Floss, Ice Cones and Popcorn, Daryl can arrange the complete School Fete package including wristbands and tickets.

Daryl finds that school fete organisers prefer to deal with one person in organising rides. This relieves the stress of dealing with different operators and making numerous phone calls to check whether they are coming, whether they are on time etc
Being a small business works in Daryl’s favour as he can concentrate on the job at hand ensuring that rides are set up and ready to operate by the advertised starting time of the event.
With so many years involved in fetes and festivals, Daryl is only too willing to pass on his knowledge to committee members.

Although he is based in Portland in South West Victoria, Daryl travels to all areas of Victoria and the South East of South Australia.
