This is Alan's story on how he has been able to overcome Ulcerative Colitis. Alan suffered digestive issues since he was 12-13 years old and found it hard to speak to anyone about it. He was really embarrassed about his condition and only went to the doctor because of a poster he saw in a petrol station toilet one day which shocked him and scared him to think that he had Colon Cancer. He then still didn't want to tell anyone until one day when his symptoms got so severe he had to go to the doctor. The doctor then did some testing and he was diagnosed with proctitis. He took some meds the symptoms went away and he felt alright. After seeing his symptoms stabilise he started to wean off the meds and that's when things got worse. So he went and got checked again and he then got diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis.
