10/01/2025 Line Marking Project Completed at Drouin CFAAt Quality Linemarking & Bollard Installation, we take pride in helping businesses, councils, and emergency services create safer, more functional environments through professional line marking solutions. One of our recent projects was completed at the Drouin CFA station in West Gippsland, where we were engaged to carry out new line marking for the station’s car park.
The job involved marking out a total of 15 car parking bays, including one disabled parking bay and 14 standard bays. While straightforward on the surface, jobs like these require careful planning, attention to detail, and a clear understanding of the client’s operational needs—especially when working with emergency services where access and safety are top priorities.
This blog walks you through how we approached the project, what was involved, and the outcome for the team at Drouin CFA.
Understanding the site and clientDrouin CFA is a key fire station serving the local community and surrounding areas. Like all CFA locations, the site is in regular use by firefighters and volunteers responding to emergency situations. That means the site layout needs to be efficient, safe, and clearly marked to ensure smooth movement of both vehicles and pedestrians at all times.
The car park serves not only staff and volunteers but sometimes visitors or members of the public. Over time, the previous line markings had faded and no longer provided clear guidance, especially during early mornings or night-time call-outs. The Drouin CFA team reached out to us to deliver a clean, compliant, and visible line marking solution that would improve both safety and functionality on site.
Scope of workThe scope for this job was focused on the car park area, which required a total of 15 bays to be clearly marked, including:
- 14 standard vehicle parking bays
- 1 designated disabled parking bay, complete with the international accessibility symbol and compliant dimensions
Planning and preparationBefore any painting began, we conducted a full on-site inspection to assess surface condition, plan the layout, and confirm dimensions. As with all line marking jobs, good preparation is essential to achieve a professional and long-lasting result.
We took the time to measure and chalk out each bay to ensure everything was spaced evenly and positioned correctly. We also consulted with the Drouin CFA team to confirm that the layout matched their expectations and allowed for proper vehicle flow around the site.
Weather was another key factor we needed to consider. Line marking requires dry surfaces and suitable temperatures to ensure the paint bonds properly to the asphalt. We scheduled the job on a clear day with no rain forecast, allowing us to complete the work efficiently with no risk of delays or rework.
Paint and materials usedFor this job, we used high-quality road marking paint that’s made for asphalt surfaces and designed to last under heavy vehicle use. The paint we selected offers excellent visibility and durability, ensuring that the markings will remain clear and easy to see even with frequent traffic from fire trucks, staff vehicles, and volunteers’ cars.
For the disabled bay, we applied bright blue background paint along with the white wheelchair symbol, both compliant with Australian accessibility standards. We also ensured the disabled bay had the correct clearance space beside it to allow safe access for passengers using mobility aids or requiring extra room to enter and exit their vehicles.
Carrying out the workOur team arrived on site early in the morning to complete the job with minimal disruption to the station’s operations. We set up safety cones and temporary barriers around the work area to keep vehicles and pedestrians clear while we worked.
Using our line marking equipment, we carefully painted each of the 14 standard parking bays, followed by the disabled bay. Once the base lines were in place, we moved on to painting the symbols and finishing details. Each bay was double-checked for alignment, spacing, and finish before being signed off by our team leader.
The entire job was completed in one day, with minimal disruption to the Drouin CFA team. Once the paint was dry and safe to drive on, we removed the barriers and handed the area back over to the client.
Results and feedbackThe finished car park now looks clean, organised, and professional. The new markings provide clear guidance for drivers, reduce the risk of confusion or accidental misuse of bays, and ensure the station is compliant with parking and accessibility requirements.
The Drouin CFA team was extremely pleased with the result. The clearly marked disabled bay now offers safe and accessible parking for those who need it, and the rest of the bays help keep vehicle movement around the site smooth and well-organised.
For emergency services like the CFA, every second counts. Having a functional and well-marked car park might seem like a small detail, but it makes a real difference in ensuring vehicles and personnel can get in and out quickly, safely, and without unnecessary delays.
Why professional line marking mattersAt Quality Linemarking & Bollard Installation, we often say that good line marking is about more than just paint. It’s about creating safer, more efficient environments for people to work, visit, and move through.
Clear line marking helps prevent accidents, ensures compliance with regulations, and improves the overall appearance and usability of a site. For organisations like the CFA, that can translate into faster response times, safer movement of emergency vehicles, and a better experience for staff and the community.
Our commitment to qualityWe understand the importance of getting it right the first time. Whether it's a small car park refresh or a large-scale industrial job, we approach every project with the same commitment to quality, safety, and attention to detail.
Our experienced team uses professional-grade equipment and premium materials to ensure long-lasting results. We also take the time to understand each client’s unique needs and tailor our approach to suit their site, schedule, and goals.
Looking aheadThis project at Drouin CFA is a great example of how a relatively simple job—marking out 15 car bays—can make a big difference to the usability and safety of a site. We're proud to have played a small role in supporting the work of our local emergency services and look forward to working with more CFA stations and community organisations in the future.
