Line Marking and Bollard Installation at Drouin Golf Course: A Safety-First Approach

10/01/2025 Line Marking and Bollard Installation at Drouin Golf Course: A Safety-First Approach

At Quality Linemarking & Bollard Installation, we take pride in providing high-quality, long-lasting safety solutions to businesses, councils, and community spaces across Victoria. Whether it's guiding traffic with clear line marking or securing premises with durable bollards, our work is all about making environments safer, more organised, and better protected.
One of our recent jobs was completed at Drouin Golf Course, where we were engaged to carry out a combination of line marking and bollard installation to improve safety and reduce the risk of criminal activity. The scope included installing 29 metres of high-visibility yellow line marking and placing three steel bollards at strategic access points to help deter ram raids and unauthorised vehicle entry.
This project may have been relatively small in scale, but its purpose and impact were significant. Here’s how it all came together.
Understanding the client’s needsDrouin Golf Course is a well-established local facility that welcomes players of all ages and experience levels. As a community hub, the site experiences regular foot traffic, vehicle movement, and deliveries, particularly around the clubhouse and service areas. Like many regional facilities, it also faces increasing security challenges, especially in off-hours when the premises may be unattended.
In recent years, there has been a noticeable rise in ram raid-style break-ins targeting golf clubs and other recreational venues. These types of attacks often involve vehicles being used to force entry into buildings, typically in an attempt to access safes, cash registers, or valuable stock.
The team at Drouin Golf Course reached out to us to help improve the physical security of the site while also enhancing traffic and pedestrian safety around the clubhouse.
Scope of the jobThe scope of the project involved two key components:

  • Installing 29 metres of yellow line marking to guide vehicle movement and define no-parking zones
  • Installing 3 steel bollards to physically block vehicle access to vulnerable building entry points
Our job was to supply and install both components in a way that would be functional, compliant, and visually in line with the site’s surroundings. The bollards needed to be strong enough to prevent forced entry via vehicle while maintaining an unobtrusive appearance appropriate for a public golf facility.
Site assessment and planningAs with all of our projects, we began with a full on-site assessment. This allowed us to:
  • Measure and map the required areas for line marking
  • Identify the optimal placement for the bollards
  • Check the surface condition for proper paint adhesion
  • Ensure underground services wouldn’t interfere with bollard installation
We worked closely with the golf course management team to understand their priorities and confirm the best approach. Our planning also considered operational hours, delivery access, and member safety, as we aimed to carry out the job with minimal disruption.
Line marking: 29 metres of clear, visible safetyThe line marking portion of the job involved laying down 29 metres of yellow line along the edge of the driveway and building access area near the clubhouse. This line was applied to define a no-parking zone, ensure clear sightlines, and improve the safety of pedestrian walkways.
We used a high-visibility, heavy-duty road marking paint that is specifically designed for asphalt surfaces. This paint offers strong resistance to weathering, UV exposure, and vehicle traffic. The bright yellow colour was selected for its visibility, ensuring that the lines remain easily noticeable in all lighting conditions, including early mornings and late afternoons when many golfers arrive or depart.
We prepped the surface by thoroughly cleaning it, removing any dirt, dust, and debris that could interfere with adhesion. After marking the layout, we applied the paint using our professional line marking equipment, which ensures crisp, clean lines and consistent width throughout.
The finished result was a neat, clearly defined line that now helps to manage traffic flow and reduce the chance of vehicles parking in restricted or unsafe areas.
Bollard installation: Protection with purposeThe second part of the job involved installing three fixed steel bollards near the main building entrance. These bollards serve as a critical layer of protection, preventing vehicles from gaining access to doors, windows, or other entry points that could be targeted in a ram raid.
We supplied and installed heavy-duty steel bollards, chosen for their strength, durability, and reliability. Each bollard was:
  • Core-drilled into the concrete
  • Cemented securely into place
  • Finished with a high-visibility yellow coating to match the line marking and alert drivers
The bollards were installed in a line that allows for pedestrian movement and access trolleys but completely prevents vehicles from reaching the building frontage. Their placement was calculated to offer maximum security without interfering with normal foot traffic or emergency access.
All three bollards were installed to Australian standards and meet the load resistance required to stop or significantly slow down an attempted ram raid.
Challenges and considerationsEvery site has its own unique challenges, and Drouin Golf Course was no exception. For this job, some of the main considerations included:
  • Ensuring bollard placement didn’t interfere with members entering or exiting the building
  • Maintaining an aesthetically appropriate look for a public recreational site
  • Working around member bookings and golf course traffic without causing disruption
We addressed these challenges by carefully planning our work around quiet periods during the day and using temporary barriers and signage to redirect foot traffic while work was underway. Our team worked efficiently to complete the entire job within a single day, minimising any inconvenience to staff and guests.
Final result and feedbackOnce complete, the site had a noticeably improved sense of order and security. The yellow line marking clearly indicates no-parking areas, helping to keep traffic flowing and walkways clear. The bollards now offer a strong physical deterrent to would-be intruders, significantly reducing the risk of forced vehicle entry.
The team at Drouin Golf Course was extremely pleased with the result and appreciated our professional approach, clear communication, and quality workmanship.
They now have a safer, more secure facility that still looks welcoming and open to the community.
Why bollards and line marking matterWhile often overlooked, features like bollards and line marking play a crucial role in safety and security. Line marking helps manage traffic flow, reduce accidents, and ensure compliance with access rules. Bollards provide critical protection for buildings, staff, and customers, especially in a time when ram raid attacks are becoming more common across both urban and regional Victoria.
Together, these elements create a safer environment for everyone, from daily visitors to after-hours staff.
ConclusionOur work at Drouin Golf Course is a great example of how practical safety solutions can be seamlessly integrated into a public space. By combining clear line marking with strategic bollard installation, we helped create a space that’s both functional and secure without compromising its welcoming feel.
At Quality Linemarking & Bollard Installation, we’re proud to support local communities with reliable, professional safety upgrades. Whether it's a golf course, shopping centre, factory, or school, we bring the same attention to detail and commitment to quality to every job.
