As
much as it is very exciting, owning a pet could be very stressful for most
modern families. George Lygidakis, SitDropStay Head Trainer and Director, talks
about how unnecessary stresses could be prevented with the right attitude and
dog training in Brisbane.
March 7, 2013 – In a study conducted by
animal researchers in Columbus, Ohio, it has been proven that families with a
pet living in today’s decade tend to be more stressed out compared to those who
lived earlier. Thirty percent of canine owners end up giving up their pets for
the reason that they take too much time, work, and money to take care of and
add to their daily burdens.
Researchers from the Journal of the American
Veterinary Medicine say that most people tend to let their emotions take over
each time they bring an animal home. They forget about the responsibilities
that come along with their purchase.
This is supported by the fact that in the
Ohio survey, majority of those who give up the dogs are married couples and
those with kids. Sara Staats, a psychologist at the Ohio State University’s
Newark Campus says that too many pet owners like their animals but are not
willing to alter their lifestyle to properly take care of them.
Having a canine can add to a family’s daily
stresses if they do not know how to handle and control the animals well. Animal
psychologists explain that the number of personal home relationships that
become strained due to lack of understanding of animal training and behaviour
has increased due to the busy lifestyles the modern world present them with.
The solution to this is to invest in
behavioural dog training in Brisbane at a dog’s early age. Canine behaviourist
George Lygidakis of SitDropStay shares that canine issues frequently arise from
unhealthy relationships with our dogs. He adds that when a canine’s instinctive
needs are not met, “they can quickly develop behavioural problems.” According
to George, while it helps if your pets undergo some training, it is our
relationship, and the emotion and energy we share with them that is more
important.
In addition, professional intervention can
also spare an owner from the frustration of living with an undisciplined and
unbalanced dog. It is an investment that makes both the family’s and dogs life much
happier and more peaceful. In order to get professional guidance, visit http://www.sitdropstay.com.au/ for more advice
