11/11/2012 Up until now, if you were looking for a locking system to provide security for your facility you had two choices:
Traditional, mechanical Masterkey systems
Wired access control systems.
However, both these systems are limited.
With traditional, mechanical Masterkey systems you have no way of
knowing who has entered your building. Further, if you lose a key you
have to either re-key your system (expensive and time consuming) or
allow your security to be compromised.
Wired access control systems are extremely expensive and they can’t
incorporate every access point. Most outside gates, cabinets,
drawers, padlocks and safes are excluded from the system.
That was the past. Introducing the EKA System…
The EKA System is an Electronic Masterkey System that eliminates all
the problems of both mechanical and fully wired systems. It is a system
of electronic cylinders that replace mechanical locks or lock cylinders
in existing doors, cabinets, drawers, padlocks, safes and more. The EKA
System controls everything. If you lose a key, you simply block it. The
system has no wires and can control access to every entry point. The
keys are programmed with access assignments and schedules, which also
allows the administrator to view audit reports and custom reports. It is
easily installed with minimal ongoing maintenance required.
The EKA System is a revolution in Masterkey systems. It has already
been installed into some of Australia’s most esteemed and recognized
facilities including the Sydney Opera House. These organizations needed a
cost-effective, highly secure and flexible Masterkey system and EKA was
the answer.
HOW IT WORKS
The EKA System is simple. The following steps will take you through the process.
Simply replace cylinders
Simply replace your existing mechanical cylinders with EKA cylinders.
EKA cylinders are the exact dimensions of the cylinders they are
replacing. There is no wiring or power required at the door.
Keys are assigned
EKA keys are assigned. The keys are programmed to give that
individual hisor her personal access privileges. For instance the key
can beprogrammed to allow access from 8am to 6pm on weekdays and 10am to
4pm Sundays. It can also be programmed to expire on a specific date at a
specific time.
Keys meet locks
When an EKA key meets an EKA lock, an information exchange occurs
todetermine whether the key has access to that specific lock cylinder.
The event and time is stored in both the lock and the key. Attempted
access is also stored in the lock and key.
Authoriser Keyport
By giving the EKA keys expiry times you ensure users regularly
updatetheir keys. Keys are updated at an easily accessible authoriser
keyportwhich is linked to your stand-alone computer or network. When
validating keys, the system downloads the key’s audit data and uploads
new access privileges to the key.
Software
The system is controlled centrally through proprietary stand alone or
web-based software. Customised audit reports and automatic
notifications on suspicious activities can be automatically generated
via email.
