Sydney-based Abbot Locksmiths’ owner, David Polley, announces different measures that residents can take to protect themselves from theft and harm. In a recent interview, owner of Abbot Locksmiths goes over different ways that Sydney residents can protect themselves from all kinds of theft and personal harm. “As technology advances, the threats to our safety also evolves and changes,” said Mr. Polley. When asked about the different safety threats that people now face in the digital age, Polley answered with the following: “Now that so many things are moving over to the digital space, our protection needs to take that into account.” “Computer safety is one area where we increasingly need more protection. Most important documents these days are kept on computer hard drives. If you want protection for these documents, you can contact IT experts to install special programs to back up and safeguard your files,” he continued. For paperwork and valuables that cannot be digitized, there are vaults and safes that can be purchased. “Things like land titles and birth certificates or physical heirlooms need to be protected from damage and theft. For these physical objects, purchasing a vault or safe is recommended,” said Mr. Polley. For commercial areas, Polley recommends master key systems to protect confidentiality of trade information. “A master key system allows each employee to have access to only the areas they are authorised to enter. An authorised staff member can have a key that accesses all areas of the company. This way, it is easier to keep out unauthorised access to important trade information,” said Mr. Polley. “You can also install passcodes to the locks on doors and gates for added security,” he continued. When asked if there are any additional measures people can take to protect themselves from thief and hazards, Polley answered with a few other mentions. “There are also other modern measures that you can take to safeguard your home or office from crime or hazards. These things include fingerprint scanners, surveillance cameras, digital gates, automatic locks, programmable motion or sound sensors, and sophisticated alarms. The measures you choose will depend on your needs, level of risk exposure, and budget,” said Mr. Polley. Sydney residents who need to install master key systems or buy a safe can contact the lock and safe experts at Abbott Locksmiths.
