Recent survey results
of women entrepreneurs conducted by Web.com and NAWBO prompts response from
online marketing firm Market Ease Business Promotions.
A joint survey conducted by Web.com and the National
Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), titled The State of Women-Owned Businesses,
showed that female entrepreneurs see SEO and Social Media as the future of
small and medium business marketing. Market Ease’s CEO chimes in on the survey
results.
“I’m pleased to see the small and medium business community
becoming more aware of how important online marketing is to their business
success. This is something we’ve seen proof of for quite a while in our own
business and in implementing internet marketing for clients. It’s nice to see
that the business owners themselves are starting to see the importance of
online marketing,” said Binh An Nguyen.
The study was conducted among 552 NAWBO members from December
14, 2012 to January 4, 2013.
It showed that 74 per cent of respondents are optimistic
about their business’ economic outlook for 2013, and 73 per cent plan to invest
more in marketing in 2013.
“Things are beginning to look up for a lot of businesses,
and many of them are using this opportunity to ramp up their marketing in order
to gain more market share and expand their business in the coming year,” said
Mr. Nguyen.
The survey also showed that 87 per cent of respondents
thought that website design and maintenance were important factors affecting
their bottom line.
Seventy-five per cent thought that social media marketing
and SEO were important factors affecting their bottom line.
And sixty-six per cent thought that email marketing was
important in affecting their bottom line.
“This makes sense. The company website is their home on the
web, and the social media presence acts as their ‘community’ that can lead
others to discover their business. Email marketing allows businesses to keep in
touch with existing customers and build the relationship with new prospects,”
said Mr. Nguyen.
“When you understand it in that way, you can see the
parallel between good old fashioned marketing and online marketing,” he
continued.
