Melbourne Massage And Treatment - Myotherapy and Lymphoedema Clinic

Melbourne Massage and Treatment is a Myotherapy and Lymphoedema Clinic led by Giovanni. Giovanni has been living in Australia since the end of 2008 and has been working in the health industry since 2016.

Our Services

Myotherapy

Myotherapy is a core service offered at Melbourne Massage and Treatment. It is used to treat or prevent soft tissue pain and restricted joint movement. Giovanni's Myotherapy services aim to improve your overall well-being by reducing aches and pains and enhancing your understanding of your body.

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage is a therapeutic approach designed to promote and revive physical well-being. This method is beneficial for addressing various bodily issues, including muscle tension, joint discomfort, musculoskeletal imbalances, and similar conditions.

Exercise Recommendations

As a Clinical Myotherapist, Giovanni often recommends exercises at the end of each treatment. This is because exercises are considered a key therapy to support injury healing, create a positive impact on well-being, and help release body tensions and aches.

Exercise provides positive stress to the body, aiding tissue regeneration and promoting strength and health. It is particularly important as we age and metabolism slows, as stimulating the system through loading and resistance can boost overall function and lead to feeling better and stronger.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a technique developed in Europe in the early 20th century. It is a pain-free, non-invasive manual therapy that aims to boost the lymphatic system. Unlike deep tissue work, MLD does not use deep pressures and is often described as highly relaxing.

Lymphoedema Management

Melbourne Massage and Treatment provides services for Lymphoedema management. Understanding the causes and types of Lymphoedema is part of this process.

Lymphoedema can develop for various reasons. Primary Lymphoedema often has a genetic component, resulting from the lymphatic system not forming properly. This typically presents as swelling, most often in a leg, starting distally (lower) and moving proximally (upwards).

Secondary Lymphoedema can arise from infections, surgeries (especially cancer removal), or related radiotherapy. Unlike primary Lymphoedema, the swelling in secondary cases often starts proximally (upper) and moves distally (downwards). Any oedema that persists for longer than 12 months can be classified as Lymphoedema.
